Class Information

Where to go

All classes are held at our ClayWorks Studio location 111 Sherwood Drive unit 3, in Brantford.

A detailed map can be found on our contact page located here.

What to wear

Dress in comfortable clothes and shoes that can get messy. Most clay will easily wash out of your clothing, but wax and glaze materials may not. An apron is a great idea to protect your clothing!

Long hair needs to be tied back and jewellery removed.

For wheel class specifically (but it is also helpful for hand building), it is suggested to shorten nails if you typically wear them long, you will likely find they impair your ability to throw on the wheel.

ClayWorks Studio is a fragrance-free environment. Please refrain from wearing scented products such as perfume, cologne, and fragrant personal care products while using this space, as they can trigger health issues for those with fragrance sensitivities and allergies.

Tools

All tools are supplied for all hand building as well as Kids and Youth classes.

For any adult wheel classes, you may order a tool kit online ahead of time here, or some may be available at the first class. If you already have your own tools, make sure to bring a cutting wire, pin tool, wooden tool, trimming tool, ribs (rubber, wood or metal) and any other favourite tools! If you plan on purchasing a tool kit, we suggest doing this ahead of time so we have enough kits on hand.

Clay

All clay use in class must be purchased at ClayWorks.

All clay is provided for the Kids classes.

Youth Wheel students are suggested to purchase their clay at the first class as these bags can be shared between students.

Clay is not included in the price of adult classes. You may purchase it ahead of time online here or at your first class. It is recommended that all beginners use PSH 455 Speckled Clay. You will be able to purchase more clay as you need it during the term.

Practice Time

To be eligible, students must have completed one full 10-week session of classes at ClayWorks Studio before being allowed to access the studio outside of class time for practice.

Studio time is available on set days and times and is monitored by various guild members. It is intended for students to practice the skills they learn in class and not for production.

Click the link below for a full description and to see the schedule.

Note to parents/guardians/caregivers:

When you drop off your students for their first class, please be sure to take a moment and check that your contact details, emergency contact and pick-up details on our master list are correct.

Note to all students:

The studio has cameras that are positioned at the front and rear doors. We have added these as an increased measure of security.

Thank you for joining us for a pottery class!
See you at the studio!
